Hi everyone. My name's David and I'm new to the forum, so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area. I'm looking to buy a cx3, and I looked at one last week. Two owners and full dealer service history. Lovely condition on the outside and inside, took it for a test drive and all good. Dealer put it through an MoT (I put a deposit down), and it failed with a 'Do not drive', pads were shot. I checked the previous years MoT, and it also failed that with three dodgy tyres. Alarm bells were ringing for a supposedly well maintained car, and I walked away from the sale. I've looked at other cx3s' on Auto Trader and a lot of those have MoT failures on tyres and brakes. Is the cx3 heavy on these? Thanks in advance for your replies (Hopefully!!)

Hi. No, I wouldn't say so. It'll depend on how you drive and the make of the tyres as a starter.
The original tyres on my CX3 last to 55,000 miles. I changes to Falkens to reduce the road noise and those lasted another 30,000 miles. I've now got continentals on which seem to be wearing well.
The pads also lasted well. From what I can see from my service record I had the original pads changed at 75,000 miles. I'm not a slow driver but try to anticipate the road ahead reducing the need to break. I'd also say alot of those miles were motorway driving. I do more local driving now. I've now done 105,000 miles and need the front disks and pads renewing (80% worn).
One thing I did notice from services was the tyres and pad wear reported each time. There seemed to be no consistency. Tyres seemed to be highlighted for change anywhere below 5mm.

I had the front pads changed after 5 years( 20,000 miles).
I’m on my third set of tyres. The tread was fine but pothole damage was the reason. Appallingly maintained rural roads
