Н! Since day one my classic hand brake needs to be fully triggered so that the car cannot move. If it is half pulled up there is no problem to drive the car without noticing the red warning light. I don't want to ask Mazda because I am sure they will say it's normal.
So the question is - can the position of the hand brake be adjusted to trigger earlier?

½ to 3/4 is normal.

Yes the handbrake can be adjusted,mine was the same,the car would roll if it was not pulled fully up.Went in for service and asked dealer to tighten it which they did.
