Had not used our CX3 Sport Nav for 4 weeks, went to move it today to rotate the tyres a bit, battery was flat. Enough to turn the starter motor once but effectively dead.

So jump-started off another vehicle. Was careful with the leads, followed Mazda procedure. Took it for a spin to test it and charge it up.

Mazda Connect System apparently ok with the exception of the Active Driving Display. It goes up and down ok but there is no illuminated display on it.
Went to Settings, went to Active Driving Display, turned it off and on a few times, still blank. Reset the Active Driving Display to factory settings, still blank.

Presumably the Mazda Connect software has thrown a wobbly.

Has anyone had an Active Driving Display which won't display? Solution? Preferably avoiding having to re-enter all the settings!

I know you said you've reset the ADD to factory default, but have you also tried altering the display height in the settings anyway?
Another thing to try would be remove and then reinstall the ROOM fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.
Can't think of anything else at the moment. Fingers crossed there isn't an electronics failure; the Body Control Module (BCM) is susceptible to damage from excessive voltage variation e.g. by repeated momentary contact to the battery negative pole that causes a spark.

Good idea to try the height adjustment - by cranking it up to maximum in the AD settings, the AD illuminations reappeared. What this reveals is that the plastic display screen goes too far forward when it is raised, so a normal mid-point setting for the AD height means that it drops off the display. On closer inspection, I think that the screen is not retracting quite fully when engine is off. So that must be it, the screen now starts too high and settles too far forward. I also did a "nav+back+mute" to reboot the unit, but that doesn't make any difference.

That all presumably means that it's a mechanical issue, and that the drive gear of the AD (if it is that sophisticated) has moved slightly. I have avoided the temptation to grab the plastic screen and try to move it, for fear of breaking something.

It needs sorting out, because although I can just about see it now, my wife is short and definitely won't.

Any further guidance would be appreciated.

OK, the combiner (the plastic screen) of the ADD has possibly learned an incorrect zero-point due to battery voltage fluctuation. Try turning off ignition, then remove & reinstall the ROOM fuse in the engine compartment fuse box (refer to diagram in your Owner's Manual). Do not be tempted to manually adjust the combiner angle with your fingers.

I removed and replaced that ROOM fuse as per that Mazda Service Bulletin. Restarted engine and the AD clearly found the correct vertical position because the display had gone off the screen. Put the AD height adjustment back to where it was before. Job done!

Turned off engine and the screen retracted to the previous flatter position. So it was all due to voltage fluctuation.
