Plastic in engine oil

Car had a engine management light come on and they have found plastic in the oil and are consulting thier technical devision - does anyone have experience of this or know or have a idea of where this plastic could come from, presumably little balls of plastic. Thanks

Any update on this or is it only me who is curious to find out what part has broken down?

Oil pump? think they often use plastic gears these days.
