Hi, I have recently purchased a 1.5D Cx3 and this morning the accelerator pedal started hesitating when pressing it and on one occasion the car stalled at traffic lights. The infotainment system also displayed a 'Road surface icing' warning.

Has anybody had this before. Could the warning affect my use of the gas pedal or are the symptoms a sign of a fuel issue.

Any advice gratefully appreciated

Hi
You could have similar symptoms that my car has, mine is currently sitting on my drive waiting to be seen by Mazda, my vehicle is hesitant between gears, I have the same vehicle as you, tge Mazda technician said it was the back pressure exhaust valve sticking

Road surface icing warning will just be because outside temp has dropped to 4c or less.

This may, or may not, be related to your issue but, in December 2019 at 54,000 miles my 2015 1.5D automatic CX-3 would suddenly lose power going up hills or when accelerating to overtake. My local Mazda dealer diagnosed a fault with the fuel filter housing and said that Mazda were aware, and had since modified the part.

To supply and fit the modified housing and filter out of warranty would have cost just over £500, and the extended warranty wouldn't cover it because it was a known manufacturing defect. Thankfully, Mazda UK paid as a gesture of goodwill.

Hi Nuggs, did you get the issue resolved with Mazda? And did that cure the problem?

Hi, I'm led to believe there are 2 fuel filters. One near the top of the fuel tank and a second one in the engine compartment. Am I correct? If so which filter did Mazda replace for you?
TIA

As far as I'm aware there's only the filter housing, filter and bracket by the fuel tank. I didn't get an invoice so I don't have part number/s of what was replaced.

Many thanks for the advice and help. All very useful. Update on the car now, and it seems to be fixed. Fuel filter has been replaced and the fault seems to have
been resolved. No more hesitancy or hiccuping. :D

One of the most important filters you can change on these cars. They are cheap enough, Change it every year
