Hello again all
Just wondered if anyone here has tweaked and added AA without changing the head unit?
If so, was it easy to do and does it work well or would you advise against it please?
Oh and any guidance and links etc would be gratefully received.
My current firmware is 51.00.351
Thanks all
Paul
AA Tweak
Yes, you have to update the Operating System to 70.00.100 or above first, and then install the replacement USB unit and USB cables up to the screen.
I've done it and it was quite straightforward. The only reason I did it was to use the Waze sat nav app from my iPhone, as more cost effective than updating the Mazda maps.

Just noticed my Operating system seems to be really old going by the numbers considering it's for a FSH, 51.00.35.
It was last services in November, do they not update when they service?

I got my ACP/AA USB unit and cables from the parts department of my Mazda dealer in 2018 for £174.37 inc. VAT.
However, they're now readilly available online from other places as Graeme67 mentions above.
The Operating System is not normally updated by a dealer unless a problem that an update may fix is brought to their attention by the vehicle owner. Updates are free during the vehicle's warranty period and installation subsequently is chargeable; it takes about 45 mins to complete.
The OS updates are not officially released by Mazda to the general public, but can nevertheless be found online for DIY installation, but you need to be able to follow instructions to the letter otherwise you can stop your infotainment system from functioning & requiring costly replacement.
There was a jump in OS version numbers from 54.xx.xxx straight to 70.xx.xxx when ACP/AA was released.

Thanks Julian, I can follow instructions as have hacked a few phones to remove bloatware before.
I've asked Ash for the latest link but not had reply, he's a busy man!
Don't suppose you have any links do you please, for the update and the instructions would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t have a current link to the files. ASH8 rarely comes here, but you can send him a Private Message over at mazda3revolution.com where he regularly hangs out.
To PM him if you’re a brand new member there, you must first make a couple of new Posts in any threads there, maybe just agree with any other member’s posts in any thread by writing a short reply, then after 24 hours or so you should have PM sending capability enabled.
