I have been monitoring the DPF regeneration monthly intervals using forscan. Over the last 12 months the average interval has dropped from 135 miles to 85 miles which equates to about 7 regens every full tank of diesel. In context the real mpg is still over 60 mpg (2016 Mazda 2, 73,000 miles).

The cars usage pattern has not changed, so something else must be going on. I believe the DPF error warning light comes on when the regen interval fall below 35 miles, so the car is some way off this. However, if the regen intervals keep reducing, then 12-18 months down the line I expect to be seeing problems.

Has anyone addressed this issue successfully and if so how? Did you use a can of DPF cleaner in the DPF or pay a specialist or garage to sort the problem? Was the DPF removed or cleaned in situ? How much did you pay? Has anyone used any DPF cleaning additive in the fuel tank and if so what were you experiences?

It would be useful if people could add their experiences or expertise to this post as this is an issue that will affect most people running a diesel CX-3 or 2 at some point. It not a question of if but when!
