Years ago I had issues with one of Fords earliest 1.6 EFI Escorts getting stuck at 2000 rpm, but at least I could turn the engine off and the brakes still worked.
So it was rather worrying to read on the news of a motorist with an MG EV which got stuck at 30mph, and only with the intervention of the police using one of its vehicles to bring it stop, did the driver manage to avert a serious accident.
Makes me wonder if this tech is developed enough to completely replace the combustion engine, or even to have them as driverless cars.
