Bought this car thinking I could sort it out but there’s something missing (been removed) from the Dpf as there’s a plate welded on one end. Can anyone advise what’s missing? Photos are of a new Dpf waiting to be fitted showing the end that needs some parts!!

To me that plate looks like the original mounting bracket. I believe there is chamber prior to the DPF, could that be what you are missing?

This is the one I’ve removed and you can see there’s a plate welded on! I bought a used dpf which has the same end but not welded! How would you proceed?? I had someone come out and tried to clean it but light came back on next day so that’s why I bought another DPF, feeling deflated ☹️☹️download/file.php?mode=view&id=1739

Just a guess but my bet would be that someone has removed one or both of the egr valves. Did you buy it privately or is the car a auction or copart job? Someone may then have tried to map out the EGRs and DPF unsuccessfully.

People get rid of these diesel cars when they start having DPF problems. Some buy them and clean the DPF and emission control equipment properly whilst others simply gut it out and remap the ECU with varying results.

I am assuming you want to put it back to stock, so I would direct you to Mazda 3 forums as this engine is more common place in this model and that's where I have found most help in the past.

Someone on the forum should have access to engine schematics to see what parts you are physically missing. What error codes are you getting if any? Good luck.
